1. How is that you are slightly expensive compared to some of other estimates I have received?
-
Firstly, we operate our own new vehicles, not older than five years while most of the tour operators make use of 10 years+ old vehicles. Only well established tour operators are able to serve you with new vehicles in view of the astronomical import tax rates on vehicles.
-
Secondly, ours are original passenger models of vans such as "Grand Cabin" and "Hi Ace Commuter" that afford superior comfort.
Most of the tour operators make use of converted cargo vans.
-
Thirdly, our vehicles are fully insured with each passenger having an insurance coverage up to USD 4500/=

9. How do you calculate mileage for the total number of days?
Let us paraphrase a client of ours.
During my ten days of Rent A Car, on some days I might not travel at all and on other days I might travel over the limit of 100km per day. The mileage allowed is (10 X 100km –so, that’s a trip of 1000Km). Now, do you total up the mileages of each day, then divide the aggregate by the number of days and arrive at the excess mileage for the 10 days?
-
Yes, Sir, you are right. Only the overall excess mileage is charged.
-
To explain the matter further, let us say unused mileage is cumulative: unused mileage on any given day or days can be utilized on a following day or days subject to 8 working/standby hours per day of the chauffeur. USD 0.50 per hour as chauffeur’s overtime is applicable for each excess hour.
-
If you Rent A Car for 10 days, your total allocation is 1000km for all ten days. So, you are good to run less on some days and more on other days as you need. The excess mileage is calculated only if and when the overall limit of 1000 km is exceeded.
10. What are the working hours of the chauffeur?
-
Chauffeur is available for a period of 8 hours a day and the duration can be extended to 12 hours a day.
-
USD 0.50 per hour as chauffeur's overtime is applicable once the limit of 8 working/stand by hours per day is passed.
-
Once again, the client is requested to provide accommodation for chauffeur on location or pay USD 12 per day if the standby stay is outside the city of Colombo.
11. Can I have the chauffeur standby 24 hours a day?
-
Should you need the chauffeur be standby by for 24 hours, advance notice should be given to our agency at the time of your reservation.
-
Should such a requirement arise, quite unexpectedly, during your stay in Sri Lanka, please call our office. We would look into the matter in favorable light and advise the chauffeur.
-
This matter is handled on our valued client by client basis in view of our concern on safety of our client, chauffeur and vehicle together with the necessary rest for the chauffeur.
12. How do you count the number of days for Rent A Car?

Local agents (Travel agents based in Sri Lanka engaged in Inbound Tourism to Sri Lanka)
Lakpura Travels (Pvt.) Ltd., Moratuwa, Sri Lanka is a registered entity at Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the state arm or rather, the governing body of the tourism in Sri Lanka. The registered travel agents are legally entitled to lowest room rates on confirmed (100% guaranteed) room bookings from the hotels in Sri Lanka. On the other hand, the registered travel agents are legally bound to make the full payments, in advance of the arrival of guests, to the hotels.
In view of this mutually beneficent arrangement, we are compelled to request our clients to make the full payment on room charges.
Once the full payment on room charges are settled with our agency, we make the necessary payment to the hotel in turn, and our client is guaranteed with hotel room confirmations. The job is done.
Secondly, we being a local travel agent, being on the destination, are geared to extend further assistance, if required, during your holidays in Sri Lanka
We are at your destination. We are well positioned to do still more jobs.
Commission Agents (Web based retailers located nowhere near the destination, selling Sri Lanka Hotel rooms on-line) Most of the Commission Agents are pure online traders without an office in Sri Lanka. These on-line sellers market hotel rooms they most possibly have never witnessed, secure a so called reservation for a small fee of USD 10 or and release a hotel room confirmation voucher on-line to the client.
Now their client having arrived in Sri Lanka, expecting to pay the final payment at the hotel, may find no rooms available at all. The voucher may not be honored. Of course this wouldn’t be the case all the times. But then the probability could be significant, especially during the season. We take it that, what can go wrong, will go wrong.
Now the excuses would galore: communication failure; late arrival of client; incorrect hotel.
You will never know. And you have no one to turn to.
You have no one at your destination.
